What's included

• DJ services lasting up to five hours of performance time (setup and pack-down not included), finishing no later than 11:00pm. Performance after 11pm can be quoted separately.

• Professional DJ performance and music tailored to the style and preferences discussed prior to the event.

• Live piano performance during early event stages where included in the booking (for example during guest arrival or drinks).

• Professional sound system suitable for small to medium events, including PA speakers, DJ decks, mixer, DJ table and electric piano where applicable.

• Basic event lighting for dancefloor atmosphere.

• Travel to venues within 60km of Melbourne CBD. Travel beyond this distance can be quoted separately.

• Setup and pack-down of all equipment required to deliver the booked service.

• Pre-event consultation to discuss music preferences, event timeline, and key moments.

Additional hours, extended performance after 11pm, travel beyond the included distance or additional audio/ lighting equipment can be arranged and will be quoted separately.

What is excluded

• Smoke machines, confetti cannons, dry ice effects or special effects equipment unless specifically arranged.

• Guests using the microphone except for pre-arranged speeches, announcements, or performances approved prior to the event.

• Music requests that are offensive or inappropriate for the event environment at the DJ’s discretion.

• Non-prearranged services or equipment not included in the agreed booking.

• Additional sound systems for multiple locations unless specified in the booking.

• Equipment hire or services outside the agreed performance timeframe.

Terms and Conditions

Booking and Payment

• A non-refundable booking fee of 20% is required to secure your event date.

• The remaining balance must be paid no later than 30 days prior to the event date.

• If the remaining balance is not received by this date, Special Day DJ (SDDJ) reserves the right to cancel the booking and not attend the event.

Event Timing

• Performance time begins from the agreed start time in the booking. The performance time booked refers to the agreed scheduled start and finish time, not the actual time music begins.

• If delays occur due to venue scheduling, speeches, catering service, or other event factors outside of SDDJ’s control, the finish time will remain as originally agreed, unless additional playing time is requested and approved. Additional time will incur overtime fees that must be paid at the time of the request.

Setup Requirements

• Safe and accessible power must be supplied within 10 metres of the DJ performance area unless otherwise arranged.

• A flat, sheltered performance space must be provided to protect electrical equipment from weather and hazards.

• For outdoor events, adequate weather protection (e.g., marquee or covered area) must be supplied.

Vendor Meal

• For events where SDDJ is booked for five hours or longer, a vendor meal and access to drinking water is requested where meals are being provided to guests. The meal may be taken during a suitable break in performance and will not affect key moments of the event.

Equipment and Safety

• All equipment remains the property of SDDJ at all times.

• The person making the booking is responsible for any loss or damage caused by guests or venue staff, including spills, impact, or interference with equipment. Damaged equipment will be invoiced to the person making the booking.

• Guests must not handle, move, or interfere with DJ equipment.

Venue Requirements

• The venue must comply with local noise regulations and curfews.

• SDDJ is not responsible for interruptions caused by venue staff, security, or authorities enforcing noise restrictions.

Cancellation Policy

• The booking fee is non-refundable.

• The remaining balance minus the booking fee is refundable if the event is cancelled with at least 31 days’ notice.

• If the event is cancelled within 30 days of the event date, the full balance is non-refundable unless otherwise agreed. However, a new event date can be agreed at the discretion of the SDDJ if available.  

Force Majeure

• SDDJ will not be held responsible for failure to perform due to circumstances beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, natural disasters, government restrictions, illness, accidents, or venue closure.

• In such cases, reasonable efforts will be made to reschedule the booking or provide an alternative solution where possible.

Weather and Safety Warnings

• SDDJ reserves the right not to attend the event if there are severe weather or safety warnings affecting the event location or travel routes that could cause risk of injury or damage to equipment.

• In such circumstances, communication will be made as early as possible to discuss contingency options.

Equipment Failure

• While all equipment is maintained to professional standards, in the unlikely event of technical failure, SDDJ will make reasonable efforts to repair or replace equipment as quickly as possible.

• Liability is limited to the amount paid for the service.

Substitute Performer

• In the unlikely event that SDDJ is unable to attend the event due to illness, injury, emergency, or circumstances beyond reasonable control, SDDJ reserves the right to arrange a suitable replacement DJ or performer of comparable professional standard to fulfil the booking. If a suitable replacement cannot be arranged, any payments made for that service will be refunded.
